For over three decades, Washington English Center has been delivering cost-effective English-language training and workforce programs to adult immigrants. Established in 1993, the center commenced operations with a small team of volunteers offering ESL, GED, and US Citizenship classes to parishioners from Central America. Presently, the center caters to students from more than 100 nations with the assistance of 350 devoted volunteers each term. Apart from language instruction, Washington English Center provides a range of community services, including health fairs, career fairs, special-interest clubs, and social activities, all aimed at nurturing a sense of community and backing for immigrants.
The center’s array of services encompasses group classes, personalized tutoring sessions, and U.S. Citizenship Preparation classes. Both full and partial scholarships are accessible to ensure inclusivity for all students. Washington English Center also presents volunteer opportunities for individuals keen on teaching and is presently seeking a Programs Associate. The center’s dedication to furnishing education and assistance to immigrants is mirrored in its mission to aid individuals in accomplishing their objectives through language instruction and workforce readiness programs.
