Established in 1997 in Uster, Switzerland, the WAC International Club and English School, previously known as the Women’s Activity Club, is a non-profit organization that fosters a welcoming and supportive English-speaking environment for families of all nationalities. It serves as a hub for socializing, learning, and integrating into the local community. The club’s array of services caters to expat families, offering fun events, activities, an English book library, and educational classes for children aged 2 to 14.
What began as a small sewing circle has blossomed into a dynamic community center that hosts playgroups, exercise classes, and a babysitting cooperative. The club’s commitment to providing an authentic English learning environment for children is exemplified through its education program, the Learning Tree Cooperative School. This program encompasses an English pre-school, reading and writing classes, ESL classes, and a Swiss-German Spielgruppe, accommodating children of various ages and language backgrounds.
Operated by volunteers and backed by a diverse international membership, the WAC International Club and English School transcends being just a club; it is a multicultural family that offers a sense of belonging to expats and individuals seeking a welcoming community.
