Detailed Information

The Global Language Network (GLN) is a Washington, D.C.-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to leveraging language as a powerful tool for positive change. Offering cost-effective language courses in more than 60 languages, GLN empowers adults of all ages to enhance their foreign language communication skills. By emphasizing the importance of effective communication, GLN aims to foster mutual understanding and facilitate the resolution of personal, professional, local, national, and global challenges.

Supported by community donations, GLN is committed to nurturing and empowering GLN Teaching Fellows through ongoing professional development opportunities. The Teaching Fellowship initiative engages native speakers who generously volunteer their time to teach their language and share their cultural insights with the broader Washington, D.C. community. Envisioning a harmonious and collaborative world, GLN encourages individuals to embrace their cultural heritage while also valuing and learning from others. The organization cultivates a diverse community of lifelong language learners both in the United States and internationally, celebrating cultural richness and fostering cross-cultural exchanges.

Established in 2005 by Andrew Brown, GLN was founded to address the increasing demand for accessible and affordable language education. Brown’s vision of using language as a bridge to connect people and build inclusive communities has been instrumental in guiding GLN’s development and achievements. At the heart of the organization are core values that promote innovation, collaboration, and enjoyment among its stakeholders, creating an inclusive environment where individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds can engage, communicate, and learn from one another.
