The Culture and Intensive English Program (CIEP) at the University of Northern Iowa is a distinguished language institution that provides immersive academic English instruction and a rich cultural experience in the United States. Established in 1982 by Dr. Stephen Gaies and Dr. Cala Shields, the CIEP boasts a long-standing tradition of delivering English language education to students from diverse backgrounds and nationalities. With small class sizes limited to 16 students, CIEP ensures personalized attention and meaningful connections with instructors and peers.
