North East Metropolitan Districts Language Development Centre is committed to enhancing oral language abilities that form the basis for literacy, social interactions, and academic achievements. By focusing on equipping students to excel as effective communicators in mainstream education, the Centre strives to unlock their full potential. Situated in Dianella, the school also provides satellite classes at North Balga Primary School and Beechboro Primary School, delivering comprehensive language development services to a diverse student body.
Dedicated to supporting students with Developmental Language Disorder and other communication challenges, the Centre partners with schools in the North Metropolitan region through a Pilot program. This innovative initiative enables schools to have a dedicated speech pathologist on staff, thereby boosting staff capabilities and offering direct assistance to students with personalized learning requirements. Through customized service agreements and continuous training, the Centre ensures that each school receives the essential support to foster inclusive learning environments.
Under the guidance of Director of Education Joanne Harris, the Pilot program has witnessed substantial growth since its establishment in 2021 and is slated to continue until the conclusion of 2024. Speech pathologists associated with the Centre undergo thorough induction and training to provide top-notch services to schools participating in the program. Given the persistent demand for speech pathology services, interested schools are urged to apply early to secure assistance for their students’ communication needs.
